Frequent Questions

Yes, Vialogos is my real name. When I was going to marry my second husband I had this idea to change our names and come up with a new name just for us. My husband being a zealous cyclist rode his bike up one of the mountains in North Vancouver. At the top of the mountain, he heard someone say,‘Vialogos’ but when he looked, no one was there, of course. Arriving home, he told me the story and asked, what I thought of the name. He changed his last name to Vialogos legally and when we were married I automatically became Vialogos too. We are the only two on the planet as far as I know. The meaning of Vialogos, the way of the word (then is perfect for a writer) so I kept it after our divorce.
The idea presented itself one day during a discussion with Kostas the man who owned my neighbourhood DVD rental store in Heraklion, Crete. We often chatted about movies, and I asked him if he could recall a film where the killer's victims had something to do with the movies he rented. We both agreed it was an intriguing idea. After this conversation I began writing a screenplay which I called The DVD Murders. When I tried to find someone who might be interested in the screenplay, I reached a dead end. Many films are made from novels, so that is when I decided to go back to the drawing board and expand the screenplay, into a novel. Are there really over 600 film titles in your book The Movie Murders? Yes, there are and I have counted them and have a file.
To tell you the truth I'm not sure where the idea came from, but once I started, I loved the idea. As a film buff myself, I became fascinated by the game nature of the book and hoped others would as well.
Yes, I'm not sure what format it would take but I definitively see the potential for someone designing a game from the names of all the films. At least I hope that happens one day.

Personal History

I was born in Toronto, Canada, to an Irish father and Canadian mother. Because my father was Irish, born in Dublin, I was able to apply for an Irish passport. This passport has been very valuable as it enabled me to work in any of the countries that had joined the European Union. My family moved to California in the 50s and then we moved back up to Canada when I was 11. My teenage years were spent in Toronto and I moved to Vancouver to live with my sister in the 70s. I was a single mother then and I took my son with me to British Columbia.

I’ve been married and divorced twice. In my 50s I decided it was time to make a career change again. I took a course on teaching English as a second language and found my first job in Poland.

When I retired I decided to move to Ireland a place where people spoke English. As an ex-pat who lived in Poland, the Czech Republic, and finally in Greece I longed to live in a place where people spoke my native language. I'm quite happy living in Ireland now and I’m beginning to slowly make friends and getting used to living in another new country. .
